Mechelle Jewell Dixon Therapist at Passages Elkins

Mechelle Dixon

Psychotherapist

I’ve spent more than twenty years as a licensed social worker, and in that time I’ve learned that most people don’t need to be fixed — they need to be heard, told the truth, and handed tools that actually work. I sit with anxiety, depression, OCD, panic, addiction, grief, trauma, and the kind of relationship strain that wears you down so slowly you stop noticing. What I won’t do is hand you toxic positivity or a worksheet and call it healing.

I work with everyone from teens finding their footing to adults rebuilding mid-stride. Teens work with me because I focus on change, transition, and self-directed solutions they can own and carry into adulthood — the kind that lead to better outcomes. I have a particular heart for women in the thick of midlife — a stretch of transition and reinvention, often while caring for aging parents and grown kids at the same time, that nobody warned us about, but every woman knows is coming. And in couples work, I don’t take sides — I work for the relationship, so both partners walk out safe, heard, and empowered. I draw on CBT, DBT, EMDR, mindfulness, and somatic work, and I bring my own lived experience as a wife, mother, grandmother, and Texas native who got here as soon as I could.

I also facilitate The Pause at Elkins: A Mid-Life Women’s Social Society — a monthly gathering, with a community on Facebook and Instagram — for women who are done surviving and ready to become.

What I offer is a room where you can finally say the thing you’ve never said out loud, get honesty back, and walk out with a plan that fits your real life.
